Kirsti Meiers has an unrivaled stage energy. You can’t help but be drawn into her universe when she goes on stage and from there you just have to lean into the music and enjoy the wild beats, the beautiful melodies and the very special sound and originality that characterizes Kirsti Meiers music

Worldly singer-songwriter Kirsti Meiers is fresh from releasing a superb new album, Seven Stories, a collection that delves deep into her creative personality. This is a set that emphasises the transformative power of music, with an array of styles and genres coming together to underline Kirsti’s acute lyrical observations. The result is a collection of songs that are energised and excited, performed with an earthiness and grit that allows a richly alternative vein to shine. A mature and developed record, and a high watermark from this Scandinavian singer-songwriter.

Lowland-born, Norwegian-raised Swedish-minded Kirsti Meiers, with her pan-Scandinavian roots, has a completely unique insight into the Nordic melancholy. On punk piano and strong vocals, she plays her paradoxical originalities from the ‘beyond’. Think Tori Amos meets Laurie Anderson who hails from the Dead Sea..!

After hearing and seeing Kirsti Meiers play at the Christianias Opera, I now recognize the concept of Unaccountable Presence as a feeling. And that is, in my opinion, what the artist undeniably contributes to in our imagined world. In all its simplicity, to be in the aesthetic space with still genuine love for the tangible, how the thought becomes a feeling – and if that also happens to those who listen, then artists can have their hug – and so can Kirsti Meiers. Like a diva dressed in black, to emphasize the marriage of music with this earthly ego, Meiers sits down to her Rhodes and her machines. An excellent technical skill sets the tone from the start and lets me know that I am in safe, knowledgeable hands. But with Kirsti Meiers there should be no safe places to hide. No easy ways out. It all happens right here and now.
With beautiful threads to Kate Bush, Kirsti Meiers divides the waters into equal parts of no bullshit and listen now for hell. Nothing is swept under the rug and the true artist steps forward. But pomposity and strength give Kirsti her inner monologue free and plays the music with energy and dynamism. The music has nerve and twists that you can dive into. There is mob humor in the lyrics that peeks its unpredictable face out when, in the middle of a magnificent fong of pop and anthem, “Im not stable” is expressed with unmistakable precision, laid down in a devilish octave that makes the humor hairs stand up. It all happens right here and now. And the present is where Kisti Meiers is on stage. Listen and you will find it, otherwise left to your ideas about the artist’s recognizability and flattery. And you will not find it here. What more could you want from an artist and a performance?”
